Installation Questions
Q : What if there is no earth embankment at the
proposed seating location ?
A : If the terrain suits, we would propose to import
suitable fill material to create an earth
embankment. The fill required would be contained or
held in place against a design approved retaining
wall system.
Alternatively : Again if the terrain suits, the
option to excavate or cut out material to create the
required embankment profile.
Q : Can the Gladiator Seating System go around
curves ?
i.e athletics tracks, cricket ovals, curved
stadiums, amphitheatres, motor sports race tracks…..
A : Yes it can. Because the Gladiator Seating System
is a modular (each block module being 225mm wide) ,
a change in direction to create curvature is formed
preferably through an aisle section. The change in
direction is created by simply cutting through the
step - aisle blocks at the desired curvature or
deflection angle. Each change in direction in turn
creates a seating segment of the desired curvature.
Q :Are the blocks fixed, mortared or glued onto
the base slab?
A : No. The blocks simply sit on the finished base
slab. Their own weight and gravity hold them down. A
designed toe or upstand at the base of the
embankment slab stops any potential creep (block
movement) down the slab.
Q : How long does it take to construct a straight
forward seating layout ?
A : If the desired seating location has an existing
embankment which is geotechnically approved, then
300 seats including aisles can be fully installed
within a week by three experienced workmen.
Previous seating installation example: Gladiator
Seating successfully installed 3000 seats in 28
days. On time and within budget.
